Q. You say the procedure is painless. How can that be?
A. Hemorrhoids are often painful but their treatment with Ultroid ® is not. Ultroid ® painlessly treats the base of the internal or mixed hemorrhoid. The base is located in an area where there are no nerve endings (above the dentate line). The probe is positioned to treat that area and subsequently will affect the entire hemorrhoid. Any discomfort is related to a feeling of “pressure” that may be unfamiliar to the patient. The physician can control that discomfort, decreasing it as the patient communicates with the physician.
Q. Does my insurance company cover the expense for Ultroid ®?
A. The painless Ultroid ® procedure is covered by Medicare and most major insurers. Your physician can tell you if your insurance covers the procedure.
Q. How long will I be out of work after the procedure?
A. You won’t! Not only is Ultroid ®painless, but because it does not create an open wound, there is no need for stitches. You can return to your daily activities immediately after the procedure–even work. But remember, the final recommendation comes from your physician.
Q. Does the procedure take a long time and do I have to prepare for it the night before?
